Its repertoire embraces traditions from cultures across Eurasia and displays the interactions and similarities as well as the uniqueness and exoticism of different musical cultures. As its name implies, the communication between East and West promotes a multicultural artistic exchange for a more inclusive world.
Duo Chinoiserie has performed in Spain, China, and the United States. Their performances have been described as sensational by audiences and critics alike, and their creative artistic activities have been featured by mainstream media outlets including the Arizona Daily Star and Tucson Lifestyle Magazine.
FELIX MARTIN, an ambidextrous, Venezuelan-born musician, is pioneering a new style of playing the electric guitar. With his self-designed 14 and 16-string guitars, Felix emulates playing two instruments as if they were one, creating a completely new sound of his own.
Felix was born in Barquisimeto, Venezuela, and grew up in a small town called, “Acarigua.” He started playing bass and electric guitar around the age of 12, and without access to learning materials, music teachers, or the internet, he was forced to learn everything by himself. The only tool other than his guitars was a Walkman CD player. This made his learning process slower and harder, but that led Felix to be creative, and to develop his own sounds from scratch.
Award-winning guitarist Tengyue “TY” Zhang, has been the 1st prize winner in youth and adult divisions of international guitar competitions including the Forum Gitarre Wien Competition in Austria, Guitar Foundation of America Competition, the Changsha International Guitar Competition in China, Alexander Frauchi International Competition in Russia, and the Schadt String Competition in the U.S, among others.
